Head of School
Soroptimist International Donation
Soroptimist International is an organization of professional and business women who support efforts towards peace, with a particular focus on working to improve the lives of women and girls.
The organization recently approved the HIS Junior Service Learning trip for annual grants. This year our junior class is heading to Cambodia to build houses with the Habitat for Humanity organization.
On Monday, in the school office, representatives of Soroptimist International Chuo visited the school to hand off this year’s donation to Ms. Harmon, 11th-grade homeroom teacher, and Daniel Lopez, class president.
The school greatly appreciates the support of such a well-known organization as Soroptimist.
Itaya Construction has been delayed by a Sapporo City inspection process. It should resume in a week’s time.
In the morning, please avoid parking your car directly in front of the school as the bus needs to pull in to drop off children there. Usually, this is at 8:15 ~ 8:20 AM.
Thank you for your cooperation.

A donation box will be placed at the front entrance of the school starting next week!

Spring is a nice time to clean the house. If you have things that are still in good condition but are no longer used/needed, we will find them a new home!
Starting in March, there will be a large donation box at the school’s entrance.
Maybe you can encourage your child/ren to go through their toys and books!
* No clothes please (unless new with a tag). Also, no shoes or stuffed animals.
* All proceeds from sales provide grants to clubs, activities, and materials which benefit student learning and enjoyment of school life.
Vendors can participate in the flea market to sell used or new goods - clothes, toys, books, handicrafts, etc. (excluding food/drinks). Vendor spaces are open to the school community and the general public. A vendor space costs 1,500yen and measures approximately 2 x 1.5 meters (a discount rate of 1,000 yen applies for current HIS Staff, Parents and Students).

Thank you all for a terrific week of learning at HIS Niseko.
Big cheers to Mr. and Mrs. Sugino for making the trip from Sapporo to join our Kitara performers. We loved your generosity of time and talent as we enjoyed rehearsing our song and dance routines.
This year, the Niseko and Sapporo students will join forces to perform the night of June 1 with an expected audience of about 1,300 people.
Special thanks to Ms. Lola for her collaborative help in getting our students fully prepared for the concert. Thank you also, Mr. Sinclair, for filling in as our EY teacher.
You all were terrific.
Thank you Miyoko san!
Our good friend and former EY Babysitter, Miyoko san has taken some time out from her day in Kyoto to send me some photos.
All at HIS Niseko are pleased to her that she is doing well. Her photos are too beautiful to keep in my smartphone.

Another great tournament in Kobe for the MS girls basketball team. We escaped the blizzard in Sapporo last Thursday to be greeted by perfect Spring-like conditions for the next 4 days. The basketball was excellent too as we placed 3rd out of 8 teams. A mighty effort by a very happy group of girls who had fun on the court while playing so well but also made so many off-court friends from other schools.
Congratulations to Haruki who was outstanding and was named as our MVP.
Our captain Winnie was also outstanding in the leadership and friendship that she provided on and off the court as well as being our number one rebounder !
A HUGE thank you also to Karen Katayama who came along as our chaperone.
Finally, thank you to all those who supported them by sponsoring them in the Goal a Thon, offering comments of support on social media and/or watching the live streaming of our games.
