Elementary Sports Day / Grade 9s in Kyoto
It was such a great opportunity for the elementary school community to come out on Saturday to support students as they participated in their Sports Day events. While there was a chilly side to the breezes, there was a whole lot of warmth and energy among all ages of participants.
A thanks to the teachers, secondary students and parents who helped to put on the BBQ and support each of the races. For the first time in likely a very long time, it was good to see the teachers win the tug of war, although that did not happen without a little help from a few parents ;-)
Grade 9s in Kyoto
The grade 9 students are down in Kyoto today and tomorrow for their cultural trip to Japan’s cultural cradle. We thank Mr. Erickson and Ms. Sugino for accompanying the students. We know this is a valuable time for students to better develop an appreciation of this ancient culture and it’s also a wonderful opportunity for the class to cooperate and bond together.
Grade 9 went to Kansai on Saturday morning and we look forward to seeing them back here Wednesday morning.

Ms. Mutsuko Tsubaki came as a guest speaker to our HS Advanced Japanese class last week. She works as a manner instructor at hotels, companies, and a university in Hokkaido and in China. Ms. Tsubaki taught us manners and formal Japanese (keigo) which students can start using now and in the future. Currently, HS Advanced Japanese class is researching about their job opportunities for the future. This lecture definitely will be a benefit for all and was a valuable time!
