HIS Student Appears in the Asahi Newspaper on the Topic of “Dreams”
HIS Senior, Mukhayyirkhuja “Mukha” Abdurakhmonov, was recently interviewed at HIS on the topic of Dreams for a series of articles of the same name by Asahi Newspaper.
Mukha’s Uzbeki background and experiences of growing up here in Japan and most recently his educational experiences at first Japanese and most recently here at the international school, are all addressed in the article.
Mukha also speaks to his dream of going on to medical school in order to be a doctor who can help those in need around the world.

The HIS Music Department is pleased to announce that we will be performing at Sapporo Kitara Concert Hall next April! Kitara is one of the most prestigious concert halls in Japan with beautiful facilities and fabulous acoustics. Since 2001, HIS had held more than 10 annual concerts there, and we are so excited to be returning to this venue!
All students from Milepost 1 to Grade 12 will be involved in either the performing or producing of the concert. It is going to be a fantastic showcase where you will see them singing, dancing, and playing instruments. Here are our

The HS boys and HS girls teams both had strong wins over the weekend against their respective opponents. The boys defeated the visitors from Okadama HS and the girls beat the visitors from Seishu HS. This week the HS boys have home games against the very strong teams of Hokkai HS and Hiragishi HS on Monday and Thursday.

Japanese Kanji Proficiency Test (Kanji Kentei)
The HIS Japanese Department would like to announce that we are scheduling the Kanji Proficiency Test (Kanji Kentei) on Saturday, January 28th at HIS.
Students can choose from Level 2 through Level 10. We need to have at least 10 people to have HIS as a venue.
For registration and any questions, please email Yumi Miyatake (firstname.lastname@example.org) by Monday, December 12th including birthdate, Japanese name in Kanji/katakana, and level. Both students and parents are welcome to register.
Levels and Fee:
- Level 2 (University): 3500 yen
- Level semi-2 (10~12th grade): 2500 yen
- Level 3 (9th grade): 2500 yen
- Level 4 (7~9th grade): 2500 yen
- Level 5 (6th grade): 2000 yen
- Level 6 (5th grade): 2000 yen
- Level 7 (4th grade): 2000 yen
- Level 8 (3rd grade): 1500 yen
- Level 9 (2nd grade): 1500 yen
- Level 10 (1st grade): 1500 yen
Please note, all Steering Committee meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month. Any parent is welcome to attend, and please let Neil or Megumi know if you would like to become a regular (and voting) member of the committee.

Free babysitting is available for during the meeting upon request.
