Head of School
Influenza seems to have found its way into Sapporo and now the school community. We had several out sick over the past week and into the weeknd. Even our basketball stars were coming down sick during the weekend.
We are monitoring the situation carefully and counting the number sick students in each section of the school and also across the school. Note that HIS protocols for sickness means that we would close a section of the school if 30% of the students are sick with the same symptoms or illness.
Please make sure to call us at school if your child is sick with the flue.
A Whole Weekend of Husky Spirit:
HIS played host to an exciting weekend of basketball and international friendship. A thanks to the basketball teams, their coaches, Mr. Kelly for organizing everything, and to the parents and students who are all essential to making the ‘Snow Festival Classic’ weekend a reality. GO HUSKIES!

Student Pick-up / Safety Concern: Elementary parents are reminded to please help with the smooth the transition to after-school events by please picking up children on time at 3:30. The MPR and the first floor get far too busy and chaotic if students are left to run about as activities are being set up. Thank-you very much for your cooperation.

Three Cheers for the MP3 Writers.
Congratulations are in order for the MP3 students for successfully completing their annual standardised writing tests. I am quite pleased with their opinion essays and look forward to seeing the results.
Teachers, we will use the upcoming data as one tool to move our writing curriculum forward. We will set collective writing goals for the 2016-17 academic year.
Yesterday’s skiing session again was simply wonderful. We learned a ton from the expert instructors, Todd of greater Toronto and Joe from Fukuoka. Both are professional instructors of the highest caliber from Hokkaido Core.
With their training, we are ready for the Friday’s race day.

Movie Night -The Incredibles
Our first movie night of 2016 was a complete success. Thank you, Mr. Sinclair and Mrs. Senzai for making it so family-friendly. I loved watching the kids (and grandmother) enjoying the fine storytelling from the folks of Pixar.
