  From the Principal’s Office

A big weekend coming up for external exams at HIS.  On Saturday June 4th, many of our junior students are sitting their first SATs in the morning.  In the afternoon of that same day, students from grade 2 to grade 10 are taking Kanji Proficiency Tests (漢検).
Good luck to all!

The next PTA Steering Committee Meeting is Wednesday, June 1st at 3:45 in the teacher’s room (Rm 206).  The PTA is looking for new members for next year.  We hope that all interested parents will drop by on June 1st and get an idea of what we do, what is planned for next year, and how you can be involved!

 @ Niseko

Overnight Camp
Thank you to Rod Kelly, Alison Manjyoume, and Joe Tomasine of HISSapporo for welcoming the MP3 students to Thursday’s overnight camp experience. The students and I had a blast. We especially enjoyed the nature walk and ghost stories. The Niseko kids were pleased to socialise with the Sapporo kids and I enjoyed the fireside chats.
Great working with you all.

The school garden is shaping up nicely. The students have planted seeds and now await the harvest. I am very proud of the kids for their responsibility and teamwork in making the garden what it is. I will make sure that the Seasonal School students, staff and I maintain the garden throughout the summer months.

Big Book Buzz
Thank you Mr. Sinclair, Kyoko Senzai and Mrs. Kathleen Riggins for organising this year’s Big Book Buzz. We loved reading each book review. Big Book Buzz is a fine tradition and is one small piece in how we celebrate literacy each day at HIS.
Happy Reading!
