Head of School
Concert Pianist John Kamitsuka to Visit HIS This Friday: John Kamitsuka is a “Husky” from the earliest days of Hokkaido International School. Almost every year, Mr. Kamitsuka returns to Sapporo and he has kindly made sure to pay us a visit here at HIS. All from the HIS Community are welcome to attend.
Day: Friday May 13
Place: Multipurpose Room (first floor)
Time: 2:00 pm
We look forward to seeing you here at HIS.

From the Principal’s Office
AP EXAMS CONTINUE --- Good luck to all of our high school students sitting AP exams this week. Although studying is of course important, please don’t lose sight of the importance of a good night’s sleep as well - especially the night before your exam(s).
It should be noted, that for a small school we have a high percentage of students participating in the AP program - 39 students with 58 exams being administered. Well done, Huskies!
The next PTA Steering Committee Meeting is Wednesday, June 1st at 3:45 in the teacher’s room.
Cheers to all of you for yet another wonderful, albeit short, week of learning at HIS Niseko.
Visit from the Hokkaido Office of Shinkansen Promotion
Recently we were fortunate to be visited by members of the Hokkaido Government Office of Shinkansen Promotion. Kyoko and I participated in a lesson observation followed by an hour long discussion on internationalism in Japanese schools. We discussed ways to express our common understandings.
Each member of the group left deeply impressed with our students and school.
PTA Volunteer Morning
This Friday, May 13th, at 8:30 am we will be again giving attention to our garden and soccer field. All available parents are invited to kindly help us:
- pick up rocks
- clear out flower bedding
- Tend our garden
- rake and level our soccer field
With help, we should be able to get most of our work completed by 9:20. Please contact Mrs Kyoko Senzai if you would like to help us out.
Visitors from the Niseko Day Service
Today we received gifts of towel cloths that were designed by the Niseko elderly day care service. I was quite proud to be able to open our doors to our neighbors. Each of our honored guests left with a smile. I hope to continue our relationship for years to come.
