Security Gate Takes Shape

Over the weeknd, sections of the new security gate were installed between the dormitory and the school building.

HIS has been concerned by the easy access to the playing field. The new security gate -- which was funded by the Office of Overseas Schools with the help of the US Consulate General -- will better help us to secure our back field from intruders.

The gate will not be fully working until Winter Break. We believe it will limit access to the back parking lot. However, we will have time to develop the procedures for using the gate . We appreciate your patience as we develop how best to use a gate that will increase the security level for our students.

 @ Niseko

Greetings from HISNiseko.

HISNiseko is coordinating this year’s Santa Project for two local orphanages: Aiseigakuen and Iwanai Kouseien (114 children). We have contacted last year’s coordinators, Rie Pickering and Ami Small and we hope to build upon their achievements.

For this Christmas, we request donations of money to buy:
small mesh bags to carry school lunch aprons
Christmas cake
Just as last year, we request that each person donate 2000-3000 JPY so that HIS Niseko can order the above items via online purchase. HIS Niseko is organizing a group of volunteers to order, wrap and tag each gift.

Below are two bank accounts that you may kindly deposit your donations:

or Post Office Bank ATM 19060-19946851

 HIS Cheerleading Recruits
 Elementary Students

As the snowy season approaches, every year during the Snow Festival season, HIS hosts a basketball tournament here in our gym. The Snow Festival Classic showcases  the Junior Varsity Boys, Varsity Boys, and Varsity Girls teams. Our teams are joined by those from all around Hokkaido and even an international school in Nagoya.

In order to make the tournament more enjoyable for all, HIS Athletics is creating a Cheerleading Team for students in Early Years and Mileposts 1, 2 & 3. Boys and girls are both invited and practices will be every Thursday from 3:30~4:30. Practices will begin based on the availability of those who sign up. Performances will include the Pep Rally on Day 1 of the Tournament, Feb 5th, and the half-time show on Saturday, Feb 6th. If your child would like to join, please contact us as soon as possible!! We are looking forward to seeing everyone at practice!!

 Student Council One Yen Drive

HIS Student Council is currently raising money for an orphanage in Cameroon. Our fundraiser is called the one yen drive. There will be petroleum bottles in every class and classes will put one yen coins in the bottles. The goal is to collect as many one yen coins as possible. Our goal is to raise $800-$1000 this year. Funds raised will go towards building showers for those who live and work at the orphanage, as well as towards buying school supplies, computers and indoor cooking facilities. The fundraiser will run until February and donations will be made in March.
